It’s normal to feel a little stir crazy during this time. But, don’t allow it to be a motivating factor for you not to exercise. In addition to it being great for your overall health, excising relieves anxiety. And even a small amount of movement, like walking around the block, can make a difference.

Below are some tips on how to manage and relieve stress during the stay-at-home order.

  1. Stick to trustworthy sources such as the CDC, the World Health Organization, and your local public health authorities.
  2. Limit how often you check for updates. Constant monitoring of news and social media feeds can quickly turn compulsive and counterproductive. This will relieve stress, but instead fuel anxiety rather than easing it. The limit is different for everyone. So, pay attention to how you’re feeling and adjust accordingly.
  3. Step away from media if you start feeling overwhelmed. If anxiety is an ongoing issue, consider limiting your media consumption to a specific time frame and time of day. For example: thirty minutes each evening at 6 pm.
  4. Get plenty of sleep, which helps support your immune system.
