The BET Awards red carpet always delivers some of the most memorable looks of the summer. This year, actress Regina Hall hosted the annual event.
Some of our favorite celebs were honored for Black excellence across pop culture and entertainment. And the roster of performers and presenters at this year’s awards show was phenomenal.
Cardi B, Migos, Meek Mill, H.E.R., Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Jeremih, Fantasia, and many, many others were all slated to take the stage.
The night in Los Angeles belonged to icons in the black community. This included the late rapper Nipsey Hussle. The red carpet was blue color this year to honor Nipsey. He also received the 2019 Humanitarian Award posthumously.
Fabulous Host Regina Hall brought East Coast to West Coast with a musical number dedicated to “Da Butt” by Experience Unlimited.
On June 13, 2019, it was announced that special awards would be presented to Mary J. Blige. She received the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award. And, that Tyler Perry would be given the Ultimate Icon Award.
There were many types of BET Awards. These included Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Coco-Cola Viewers’ Choice Awards and many more.
